Studio Changes

Well, my dears……Silver hit $103.87 per oz today. It will bounce up and down in price, but silver will continue it’s march into the ether. Some estimates are that it will hit $200/oz before the fever breaks. I hope the bubble quickly pops, but I doubt that any significant price correction will come soon.

Silver is in demand! Not only being guzzled by the tech industry, solar panel makers and EV production, but people are also hoarding it in response to the present economic uncertainty and the weakening US dollar.

This is hitting the small business, one person jewelry makers especially hard! In order to make a profit, we have to increase the prices of our finished jewelry 100% +. The question: are buyers are willing to pay this much for silver jewelry? Gold has also risen – it’s now hovering around $5000 per oz – a 50% increase over the past year. To personally address this situation, I am redirecting in my studio.

Please say hello, to ‘Tales of Longing – Art Objects & Figurative Sculpture’ – my collection of handmade art dolls and sculpts. The materials to make these artworks are far more affordable than silver or gold, which means I can sell these pieces for reasonable prices.

I have long loved creating figurative art…my first collection to arrive will be ‘The Beauties’. I’ll continue to make some jewelry with the silver I have on hand and I’m developing a line of multi-metal jewelry, but for the foreseeable future my focus will be on figurative work.
