The obsession continues. Collections come into view as my mind awakens to the design possibilities surrounding sets of stones. The icy beauty of crystal filled agates and blackened druzy are the beginning of a magical progression to pieces of finished jewelry.
Waves of inspiration form into ideas that are mentally refined before being sketched in a notebook. This mental examination and developmental stage can take anywhere from a few days to weeks or even months.
I like to work from the visual properties of the stones, letting them tell me what they will become. But sometimes I begin with a clear idea of what the collection will speak to. These stones – the icy whites, the darkened shadows and frosted blues express my love of the boreal winter landscape. This is the birth of my Winter Collection to be set into a tranquil sea of precious pale silver.
