Rocking Out at the Rock Show

This rock hoard is what happens when I’m in a mood! The frame of mind was rainbow sparkly, metallics and high texture. These babies are the definition of a ‘Sparkle Jewelry Collection’.

We took time off from our usual 8-5 grind to check out a local rock, mineral and gem show. ALL the sparklies called out to me, from every table we passed. lol This is the rock haul that followed me home.

Silver titanium treated crystal geode halves, man-made carborundum from NY state, black tektites, blocky chiastolite crystals and black sphalerite with golden chalcopyrite crystal. The Fibonacci whorled shell is an opalized ammonite, cretaceous period – from Madagascar.

Opalized “anythings” are my soft spot – they always follow me home. lol

While at the rock show, I was reminded of a consequential rock shopping lesson. When you see something that you want to buy, do not walk the entire show before making that purchase. I found two phenomenal pieces of velvet malachite, which is one of my favorite, favorite stones. By the time I got back to that vendors table the malachite was gone. Ouch!
