It begins…an invitation, an exploration, an open door to the unknown.
Given our present global climate challenge, the negative political environment and a growing loss of civil society, at times life feels overwhelming. Rather than be mired in the grip of a malaise response, I try to take personal action by “Starting where I am. Using what I have. Doing what I can.” LOL Some days are more successful than others as I apply this line of thought!
I never make new year resolutions, however reaching for the positive seems an appropriate way forward. In the coming year, I choose to make more art, regenerate my creative reserves regularly and pause to appreciate the beauty and joy in life’s small moments.
As I look out our frosty windows this morning, I see a winter landscape of ice covered fields and plants. The trees drip with frozen water droplets. Treacherous, cold, unyielding? Yes, but also dazzling as the sun brings to life a fantastical icy light show. Even in the harshest moments, there is beauty. One must be open to seeing it.
Create your art and live your life with joy and celebrate those small moments of wonder. Make this your response to what may seem a bleak and desolate situation. Never lose sight of doing what you can….
