Tools!

Can a maker ever have enough tools? This question has a multitude of answers and every maker will give a different answer.

I tend to keep my tool collection mostly on the minimal side, because how many tools do I really need to get the job done and do I have the bench space to store them? Of course, I love those jeweler’s benches that are ringed with every conceivable jewelry making tool ever, but I simply don’t have the space to hang that many tools – at least at present. lol

But every now then a ‘must have’ tool joins my bench. These are tools that make the work process easier, quicker and more accurate. This week a jeweler’s ball vise joined the bench. I am in love! Not only will stone setting and filing/polishing be easier, I can now try my hand at metal engraving.

….and now I must figure out to use all the little attaching pieces.
